Saint Marinus Day: September 3rd is a special celebration dedicated to the Patron Saint of the Republic of San Marino, with events and festivities running from early morning until late at night. Discover all the events scheduled for September 3rd!
Sammarinese families and tourists alike come together in a joyous crowd on September 3rd, ready to share the emotions that this special day brings: from solemn celebrations in the Basilica of Saint Marinus to the Grand Crossbow Competition in Cava dei Balestrieri, concluding with spectacular fireworks illuminating the sky above the capital.
The schedule is still provisional and may be subject to changes, but generally follows this timeline:
10:00 AM – Solemn Holy Mass in the presence of Their Excellencies the Captains Regent at the Basilica – Historic Center
10:30 AM – Reading of the Proclamation by the San Marino Crossbowmen Federation throughout the Historic Center districts
2:30 PM – Departure of the Historical Parade from Porta San Francesco to the Saint’s Basilica – Historic Center
3:00 PM – Blessing of the Saint’s Relic and Crossbowmen’s Prayer to the Patron Saint at the Basilica – Historic Center
3:30 PM – Grand Crossbow Competition featuring flag-wavers, musicians, and historical figures. The National Champion title is at stake. The contest will take place at Cava dei Balestrieri – Historic Center
5:00 PM – Holy Mass and Blessing with the display of Saint Marinus’ Relic at the Basilica – Historic Center
5:30 PM – Concert by the Military Band of the Republic of San Marino in Liberty Square – Historic Center
7:00 PM – September 3rd Tombola (traditional lottery) at Piazzale Lo Stradone – Historic Center (postponed in case of bad weather)
11:30 PM – Fireworks Display – Historic Center
